Knowledge
On successful completion of this programme you will:
- Understand the history and influence of the prevailing and current approaches to economics, politics, science, business and social systems;
- Be aware of current scientific data and the range of perspectives and opinions which describe the state of our planet, in particular in relation to its climate, habitats, bio-diversity, population, resources and wastes;
- Be familiar with a range of different paradigms and perspectives for understanding the human and natural worlds and their inter-relationship; in particular the contrast between mechanistic and systemic, material and spiritual views;
- Evaluate the importance of ethical, social and environmental responsibility, the consequences of social exclusion and inequity; consider the importance of and how to develop community.
- Understand the arguments and issues in relation to developing a more sustainable approach to managing self, business and society.
Skills
On successful completion of this programme you will be able to:
- Make use of your knowledge to recognise and develop your own worldview while appreciating the consequences of this;
- Develop, implement and manage change in uncertain and complex conditions;
- Investigate and enquire, through action and practical application, while reflecting on the impact of your worldview on both the enquiry process itself and on its outcomes, recognising the influence you have on what you are observing;
- Develop, test and pioneer new approaches.
